BlackBerry is all set to launch its first Android-powered smartphone, BlackBerry Priv, in India on January 28. BlackBerry has first unveiled Priv in October last year. The smartphone went on sale in the US and Canada in November. BlackBerry Priv was priced at $699 in the US (approximately Rs 47,000) and the price in India is also expected to be the same.
Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform. The company has sent invites for the launch event scheduled to be held in New Delhi on January 28.
The phone comes with a 5.4-inch display and is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM. It also comes with 32GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 2TB by using microSD card. The phone only supports single SIM. The 4G handset runs Android Lollipop OS and sports an 18MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The handset is backed by a 3,410 mAh battery.
