Samsung on Thursday launched its latest smartphone in its Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A9, in China. Samsung is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the Galaxy A9 smartphone. The smartphone is listed as the Galaxy A9 (2016) on the China site.
The dual-SIM dual-standby supporting Galaxy A9 (2016) handset sports the same metal frame and glass body design as seen in other premium Galaxy handsets such as Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and more. It features a 6-inch full-HD Super Amoled display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 367ppi. The display comes with 2.5D curved glass design. Samsung also boasts about the minimal 2.4-mm display bezel on the handset.
The Galaxy A9 (2016) is powered by a 1.8GHz 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, formerly known as Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Operating System.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 sports a 13MP rear autofocus camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture, and optical image stabilisation (OIS). It also features an 8MP front-facing camera which comes with different modes such as wide selfie mode, self-portrait mode, palm selfie mode and others. As seen in majority of the Galaxy devices, the Galaxy A9 (2016) camera app can be opened by double tapping the home button. The home button also includes a fingerprint sensor with Samsung Pay support.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is backed by a huge 4000mAh battery which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 tech. Samsung has increased the battery capacity to 4000mAh as compared to the 3300mAh battery in Galaxy A7. Connectivity options of the smartphone include Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, Beidou, NFC, Wi-Fi, and USB 2.0. The smartphone will be available in White, Gold, and Pink colour variants.
